A man has been killed on the bank of Hanumante river bordering Madhyapurthimi Municipality-3 Gatthaghar and Suryabinayak Municipality-3 Balkot. Rajan Shrestha, 33, of Balkot was assaulted with a sharp weapon, according to police.
According to Narhari Regmi, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Metropolitan Police Circle, Shrestha was killed when crossing the Hanumante iron bridge while on his way home after parking his vehicle.
According to the details of the incident, some laborers saw him being beaten and called the police. The police rescued him at around 10 pm but he died on the way to the hospital.
Metropolitan Police Inspector and Information Officer Lok Bahadur GC said that the incident took place at around 10 pm and the deceased had serious injuries on his face. He further added that an investigation is underway into the incident.
Police are searching for the man who assaulted Shrestha. The police have claimed that the process of interrogating suspects is underway and the culprit will be identified soon. According to police, Shrestha may have sustained serious injuries on his face and forehead and may have been beaten with a sharp weapon.
