The Baglung Municipality has been awarded the name of the world's longest claimed single span (connecting one island directly to another island) technology connecting Bangechaur of Baglung and Adubabari of the mountain. The municipality has rewarded Ghanshyam Sapkota of Baglung Municipality-5 with Rs 25,000 in cash.
Sapkota named the bridge 'Gandaki Golden Bridge', meaning Gandaki Golden Swing. Janak Raj Poudel, Chief of Baglung Municipality, handed over the award to Sapkota for naming the bridge at Kaligandaki Khoch connecting the mountains from the center of Shaheed Park in Bangechaur.
The municipality had informed the public about the naming of the bridge. The name selection committee formed under the coordination of Deputy Chief Surendra Khadka had selected the best 25 names. Sapkota not only gave the name but also included the detailed meaning of the name. The 567-meter-long bridge has been named not only as a means of transportation but also as a link to tourism in Baglung. This is the first bridge named after more than 500 suspension bridges in Baglung. In other bridges, the same place or river is known as the bridge over the river.
Wreaths were laid on the statues of the martyrs at the event held at Shaheed Park. Remembering the martyrs, Baglung Municipality Chief Janak Raj Poudel said that the current system has come about due to the sacrifices of the martyrs.
