Minister of Home Affairs, Bishnu Prasad Poudel, has directed the concerned authorities to be prepared to minimise all types of risks that could occur due to natural disasters. He also told them to work by keeping rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures in priority.
In a meeting held today at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Poudel urged the authorities to make preparations by prioritising efforts to manage the risks that have developed due to the floods and landslides across the country. He mentioned that the government would do all it could to immediately rescue people who have been affected by the disasters and provide them with necessary relief materials.
While addressing the meeting, Minister Poudel also mentioned there would be no shortage of resources while rescuing and delivering relief to people who have been affected. However, he directed the authorities to be more focused on trying to prevent such disasters.
He also stated that there needs to be coordination between the ministries and other government authorities so that the relief materials being provided can be availed by all. Poudel added that the situation must not be such that some receive the relief materials twice and some do not get anything at all.
The home minister also said that a unified working plan is being formulated to minimise the risks. He further directed the concerned officials to repair roads and bridges that have been damaged and to reconstruct them if the damage is severe. Minister Poudel also directed the authorities to make a plan for the proper reconstruction of physical infrastructure that had been damaged.
