The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has issued a statement urging people to take all necessary precautions against the coronavirus. It has stated that health care facilities and systems across the globe have been badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is a very painful incident. In fact, hospitals in India have already warned of the dire consequences that could occur due to the collapse in the health system in the country with hospitals facing acute shortage of medical oxygen supplies and beds to treat patients infected by the coronavirus.
The MoHP has mentioned that the COVID-19 has affected different parts of Nepal but people do not seem to very serious in stemming the infection. It has stated that the virus is lethal to all age groups and there has been no medicine or technique discovered by medical science to completely treat the disease. The ministry has said that the situation has been affecting health workers on a daily basis and has appealed to everyone to be careful and responsible in stopping the spread of the virus so that no family member or friend gets affected.
The Ministry of Health and Population has also said that the various health protocols issued by the government are the only solution to stop the spread of the coronavirus. It has mentioned that if the number of infections keeps rising at this rate then there will be no place in the hospitals to admit patients. It has urged the people through the notice to compulsorily wear a mask, maintain social distance and wash their hands as and when needed.
The MoHP has also asked all to be more socially responsible. It has requested everyone not to hold any social events or functions with large gatherings and also not conduct any event in a public place. The ministry has also requested everybody not to visit any place where there could be a crowd. It has also appealed to the concerned authorities to take strict action against those not following the directives issued by the government to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
The ministry has also thanked all the journalists and media houses for playing a vital role in disseminating information regarding the coronavirus and how one can stay safe. It has said the role of the media will be even more important in the coming days to make people aware of the situation. It also urged journalists to wear masks while taking interviews and not to publish any news or programme of any person who refuses to wear a mask.
