MoHP reports 3,553 new COVID cases, 1 death on Thursday

Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Sunday reported 1,688 new cases of coronavirus infection.

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Thursday confirmed the detection of 3,553 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 841,297. Additionally, 631 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.

Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 2 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Thursday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,610. Presently, there are 14,340 active cases in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 1,886 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 1,419 cases, Lalitpur logged 317 cases and Bhaktapur logged 150 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.

As many as 271 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, a total of 815,347 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 96.9 percent while the fatality rate is 1.4 percent.

Earlier, the MoHP Wednesday confirmed the detection of 3,075 new cases of coronavirus infection.

As of Thursday, a total of 4,967,786 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 13,503 people staying in isolation while 837 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

More than 317.627 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5,531,118 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in 2019-December, COVID-19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters. It has been reported that COVID-19 infections are still rising in 132 countries where The United States is the new hotspot of COVID-19 facing a daily surge of rapid infections.
