The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Saturday confirmed the detection of 777 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 776,325. Additionally, 217 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded12 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Saturday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 10,936. Presently, there are 27,355active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 357 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 230 cases, Lalitpur logged 85 cases, and Bhaktapur logged42 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 1,368 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Saturday, a total of 738,034
people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 95.1 percent while the fatality rate is 1.5 percent.
As of Saturday, a total of 401,4183 people have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 27,355people staying in isolation while 317 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
Meanwhile, 2,360,847 people have been administered the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccines and 1,378,915 have been vaccinated with the booster dose. Likewise, 3,632,95 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine while 3,054,53 others have received the second dose as of September 11, 2021, the Ministry's data showed. Similarly, a total of 1,382,219 persons —194,293in Province 1; 276,570in Province 2; 347,414in Bagmati Province; 103,832in Gandaki Province; 253,680 in Lumbini Province, 70,666 in Karnali Province and 135,764 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with single-shot Janssen vaccines.

It has been reported that COVID-19 infections are still rising in 85 countries where The United States is the new hotspot of COVID-19 facing a daily surge of rapid infections.
