Monsoon Induced Disaster update: 116 killed, 136 injured across country

As many as 116 have died till Friday after the start of the monsoon due to floods and landslides, as per the Nepal police report. Out of who lost their lives in the monsoon-induced disaster, 53 are males; 34 are females; 13 are boys; while 16 are girls.

A total of 136 people have been injured in the floods and landslides since the start of the disaster. Out of them, 68 are males; 37 are females; 20 are boys and, 11 are girls. The injured are undergoing treatment at local level hospitals. It has been learned that 31 others have gone missing in the disaster. Those who are missing, 19 are males; six are females; five are boys and one is a girl.

The search for the missing ones is underway, said the police.

A total of 1,289 people have been rescued from different places across the country and ferried to different hospitals for treatment.

The monsoon has engulfed and inundated more than 3,182 houses in the country. A total of 978 houses, 164 cowsheds, 66 bridges, eight schools, and 15 government offices were damaged in the monsoon period. On the other hand, the monsoon has claimed the lives of 1,303 livestock.

A total of 6,111 people from 1,269 households have been displaced out of 1,345 households during the disaster period.

Police personnel from the concerned police office are actively involved in the rescue and mitigation of the damage in the affected areas.

In addition, the police are working to keep people in safer places in different districts affected by floods and landslides. They are also trying to protect them by removing the property buried in the landslide with the coordination and support of various agencies and locals.
