Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has requested the telephone, internet and TV service providers to pay the pole fares. In a statement issued on Monday, the authority warned that action would be taken against those who did not pay for renting optical fiber using electrical structures.

Most of the service providers are using the electronic poles as per the rules and have requested to renew as per the rules. The authority has also requested to pay the remaining arrears.

"We have warned many times not to extend the line until a new agreement is reached," the notice said.

According to the authority, the optical fiber and other devices connected to the electrical structures can be removed at any time and the concerned service provider will be responsible for the outcome.
