Nembang's death unexpected: UML General-Secretary Pokharel

 CPN UML General-Secretary Shankar Pokharel remarked that Subash Chandra Nembang's death was unexpected.

Former constituent assembly Chairperson and former Speaker and UML Vice-Chairperson Nembang was a member of House of Representatives elected from Ilam constituency no 2. He passed away on September 12 at the age of 71.

In a condolence assembly organized at the party central office, Chaysal in Lalitpur today, General-Secretary Pokharel shared that he could not believe the news of Nembang's demise. "The goodwill towards leader Nembang and sympathy shown to him after his demise showed that he had lived a meaningful life," said Pokharel observed, adding that late leader had significantly contributed to the promulgation of constitution through the constituent assembly.

Pokharel credited Nembang for the party's success in uniting the nation. He also reminisced that the unforgettable role Nembang played in promulgation and implementation of constitution after the then CPN (Maoist) joined the peace process. According to Pokharel, Nembang was the person who had the most thorough understating of intricacies and essence of parliamentary affairs.

He argued that if we are to respect Nembang, we should understand his sentiments.

UML's standing committee member Lal Babu Pandit, Dr Bijay Subba among other attendants of the condolence assembly viewed late Nembang's contributions could not be forgotten.
