Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that the Nepal-China relations will further strengthen with the grant of 800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines that has been received by Nepal from China.
In a programme organized to receive the vaccines here today at his official residence in Baluwatar, Prime Minister Oli shared that China developed the vaccines to contain the pandemic with humanitarian propose as the primary. PM Oli further shared that the government of Nepal was also prioritizing to save the lives of its people and was also purchasing vaccines from neighbouring countries.
The Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co. Ltd, under Sinopharm developed vaccines were provided to Nepal in grant support.
Addressing the vaccine hand over programme here today, Prime Minister shared that the same kind of vaccines produced by the same company would be provided in second round. Referring to rumour that government was failing to provide same kind of vaccines to receivers in second dose, PM Oli clarified that the same vaccines would be managed in second round as well.
On the occasion, addressing the event Chinese ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi shared Chinese President, Xi Xinping's commitment to make the COVID vaccines available as the public property to world community. She said that it was a symbol of commitment to the people of both countries. Ambassador Yanqi stated that Chinese side was aware of Nepal's initiatives to contain COVID-19 under PM Oli's leadership. She also said that the bilateral projects will get momentum with the normalcy of the situation.
Chinese ambassador Yanqi had handed over the vaccines to the PM amid a function organized in PM's official residence Baluwatar.
