Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Sunday reported 8,777 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 394,667. Additionally, 600 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the Health Ministry has recorded 88 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. As of Sunday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,720. Presently, there are 88,160 active cases in Nepal.
Similarly, Kathmandu valley reported 4,198 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, Kathmandu registered 3,161 cases, Lalitpur registered 533 cases, and Bhaktapur registered 504 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 4,022 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Sunday, a total of 302,787 people have recovered from the virus, the data released by the MoHP showed. The recovery rate stands at 77.4 per cent.
As of Sunday, a total of 2,634,504 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test. Presently, there are 88,160 persons staying in isolation while 419 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 157.75 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,423,592 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 04:01 pm, on Sunday, May 9, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
