Nepal has provided relief materials to flood victims in South Africa. Acting Ambassador Gyan Bahadur Magar handed over relief items to Kathy Matamela, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Development, at a brief ceremony held at the Nepali Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa today.

The embassy in Pretoria stated that the relief items provided today include rice, drinking water, blankets, cooking oil, milk, juice and other daily necessities. The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) National Coordinating Council South Africa has donated 10,000 rupees and the embassy staff has also provided financial assistance.

Deputy Director Matamela thanked the embassy and the Nepali community for providing timely humanitarian assistance to meet the basic needs of the disaster victims. The recent floods in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Northwestern provinces have killed more than 300 people and caused tens of millions of rupees in physical damage.

Officials and staff of the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation, a charitable organization, also assisted Nepal's earthquake victims in 2072.
