Nepali fugitive arrested from S Arabia after 17 years

Govinda Magar, 40, of Belka Municipality-6 of Udayapur, who has been absconding for 17 years after murder, has been arrested in Saudi Arabia and brought back home.

The fugitive Magar, who was issued a 'red notice' by Interpol, was arrested in Saudi Arabia and brought to Nepal on Wednesday by a police team coordinated by the Interpol branch of the Police Headquarters. Defendant Magar was arrested by the District Court, Udaypur in the case of the murder of Man Bahadur Tamang on November 29, 2006. At the request of the Area Police Office, Rampur Thoksila, the Interpol Branch of the Police Headquarters in collaboration with the Interpol Secretariat had conducted a search.

Defendant Magar has been handed over to Udayapur Area Police Office, Rampur Thoksila today for necessary legal action, according to the Police Headquarters.
