Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has launched a large capacity substation. NEA informed that 132/33 KV substation has been launched in Nawalpur, Lalbandi Municipality-1 in Sarlahi district. The substation came into operation from Saturday, added NEA. The substation will make reliable power supply along with providing electricity to the new industry to be opened in coming days in Sarlahi. The substation was charged on Saturday.

The operation will make Sarlahi's power supply system more reliable following a decrease in technical leakage, said NEA'S executive director Kulman Ghising. Sarlahi was connected with Dhalkebar and Chandranigahapur's substation providing a 33 KV power supply before. The 33 KV line was too long creating a technical leakage along with power supply obstruction, added Ghising.

Now, Sarlahi will get direct supply from Nawalpur substation where the line will be reduced creating a decrease in leakage making power supply more reliable and qualitative, stated Ghising.

The substation can provide enough power supply to industries that are going to be established in Sarlahi.

The East-West 132 KV transmission line has a loop in and out at the Nawalpur substation. 132/33 KV, 63 MVA, 33/11 KV, 16 MVA transformers each two has been set up in the substation. 33/11 KV power supply will be distributed to Sarlahi's Haripur and Malangawa via this substation.

The initial construction work of the substation was carried out on the Fiscal Year 2074/75 while major works were done on the Fiscal Year 2075/76.

The construction of the substation got delayed due to COVID-19 Pandemic where they were not able to bring the required machines for the project, said substation project chief, Niranjan Shah.

The contract of substation construction was received by Power Tech, India, and Waiba Infratech and Joint Venture (JV).
