BA2, a sub-variant of Omicron, has been found in Nepal as well.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) officials have been saying that the 'sub variant' of Omicron is now active in 57 countries including Nepal.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population (WHO), 1,146 corona-positive samples were collected in December using a random sampling method. During the screening, 250 or 22 per cent of the samples showed 'negative'. However, in 24 samples that were gene-sequenced, Omicron variants were confirmed in all samples.
As of January 23, 88 per cent of the gene sequencing has been tested with Omicron, according to the ministry. However, gene sequencing of samples that tested positive for S-genes at the National Public Health Laboratory at the time confirmed the Omicron variant.
