A person was killed and ten others were injured in a truck accident that occurred at Chichila Rural Municipality-1 in Sankhuwasabha district last night.
A mini truck with the registration number (Province 1-02-001 Kha 8083) met with the accident at Patle of Chichila-1. It was en route from Phyaksinda of Makalu Rural Municipality-5 to Khandbari after transporting vegetables.
Driver Janak Pandey (29) of Leguwa of Mahalaxmi Municipality-6, Dhankuta district died on the spot, according to chief DSP of District Police Office, Laldhwaj Subedi. Among those injured in the accident, condition of three is said to be critical. They are Bablu Magar (29) of Khandbari Municipality-7; Rahul Malakar (32), and, Rocky Kumar from Assam, India. They were ferried to Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for further treatment.
The body of the driver was recovered which was trapped under the truck this morning and was brought to the Khandbari-based District Hospital for an autopsy. Among the injured, eight Indian nationals are the workers for the Arun Hydropower Project. Among the injured, three have already returned home after treatment.
