Police personnel have intensified the distribution of surgical masks to those not wearing this vital safety to minimise the risk of COVID-19 infection.

The Nepal Police has launched the campaign ‘Where’s your mask?’ since April 21 in view of the looming third wave of COVID-19 in the country. It aims to provide masks to the people sighted without it so as to reduce the risk of another wave of the pandemic.

Towards this, over 700,000 masks have been distributed in various places of the country. In the past 24 hours alone, a total of 65,869 people were given the masks for free of cost in various locations, said Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal.

According to Spokesperson of the Nepal Police, SSP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, the campaign had been launched in all 77 districts in view of the imminent third wave of the coronavirus.

Also, Nepal Police has been taking action against those flouting the prohibitory orders put in place in various infection-prone or infection-hit places to contain the spread of COVID-19, shared SSP Kunwar.

Furthermore, Nepal Police has been spreading public awareness of the deadly infection. Police personnel are seen holding placards, distributing pamphlets and making announcements via mic to aware people of the respiratory contagion that has claimed the lives of 10,212 people in the country till date.
