Dean at the Institute of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Sashidhar Ram Joshi, stressed the importance of research, saying, "There is a transition in technology. A good researcher needs to understand this transition."

Joshi affirmed research is the best way to show one's potential in the field of technical education and assured to assist the field of engineering in any way possible. He was making such a remark at the 7th Office of KEC Research and Publications (OKRP) Conference, 2022 organized by The Kathmandu Engineering College in the federal capital today.

Other speakers also pointed out the need for promoting research with academia-industry collaboration in engineering science.

The conference with its motto "Resilience with Technical Innovation" was inaugurated by Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol.

In the conference, Chief Guest Dangol vowed the improvement of Kathmandu City. She added, "We lack proper research in our projects. Now, we are prioritizing research in every aspect of development". She informed me that she would look for feedback and technical assistance from KEC.

On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Narendra Man Shakya of KEC viewed, "Research is necessary to bridge the gap between academia and field ". He worried over the missing linkage of research with academia in Nepal as the country lacks proper human resources. "Research and development must foster in the engineering college," Shakya stressed.

He also requested the Dean at IOE, Joshi, to support in running the post-graduate program at KEC which has been running the under-graduate programme for 20 years.

Moreover, KEC Chairperson Prof Hirendra Man Pradhan showed eagerness to collaborate with the KMC and provide innovative ideas that can be helpful in planning.

The Department Head of OKRP, Pratima Pradhan, believed research fosters student's ability. The research on a national level engages teachers along with students in the field of engineering. The OKRP is also ready to welcome research collaborations of national and international specialists and researchers, she added.

OKRP came into existence in 2013 under the academic curriculum of the KEC to promote research and publications nationally and internationally. KEC has been doing research with the help of OKRP to enable academics.
