KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, the Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), was arrested by police on Friday evening.
This follows the District Court of Kaski's earlier issuance of arrest warrants for 14 individuals, including Lamichhane, as part of the ongoing investigation into the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case.
The District Police Office in Kaski had requested these warrants from the court on Friday.
According to the police, they have gathered significant evidence, including witness statements, which justify the arrests under Section 9(3) of the Civil Code of Criminal Procedure, 2074.
The court sanctioned the arrests of several others, including Bishal Tamang, Nabin Achami, Rabeena Rimal, Ashraf Ali Siddiqui, Deepak Lama, Ananta Babu Rai, Ram Bahadur Khanal, Devendra Babu Rai, Bigyan Rai, Omprakash Gurung, Bir Bahadur Ranabhat, Dipa Neupane, and Kalpana Kumari Shrestha, in addition to Lamichhane.
