Supreme court orders medical colleges to enrol students as per seats given by Nepal Medical Council

Lawyers representing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Prasad Sapkota, have started placing their arguments before the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court, in Kathmandu, on July 4, 2021.

The Supreme Court of Nepal has given a direct order to the medical colleges, to not enrol more students than the seats given by  Nepal Medical Council.

In case the medical colleges receive more students, they are directed to adjust the number of seats under a scholarship scheme in the next academic session, reads the verdict given by a division bench of Justices Anil Kumar Sinha and Tej Bahadur KC.

Likewise, the court has ordered to carry out inspection and monitoring to confirm the implementation of the verdict.

Furthermore, the court has ordered to assess the impartiality and work performance of the officials deployed to monitor the medical colleges.
