The local levels are obliged to present their budget, policy and programme on Asar 15 (Jeth 29) according to the constitutional provision. In line with the provision, the local levels in the district have stepped up their efforts in formulating a budget, policy and programme for the upcoming fiscal year 2078/79 BS.
The local levels in Tanahun district also have started eliciting recommendations from the public as part of the preparation of budget, policy and programme.
Byas Municipality spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha informed that the people’s feedback and recommendations have been solicited via email on the subject to be included in the upcoming year’s budget, policy and programme. Recommendations have been sought from all the residents of the municipality, entrepreneurs, civil society and political parties via email and directly within June 11, Shrestha added.
A directive has been issued to the budget and programme formulation committee to present the budget and programme within June 14 is based on the stipulated resource estimate and ceiling, Shrestha shared.
Likewise, Shuklagandaki Municipality also has solicited suggestions for the upcoming year’s plan. Chief Administrative Officer Gangalal Subedi shared that the municipality is formulating its budget and policy with the main strategic goal ‘Tourism, Agriculture and Infrastructure: Base for Prosperous Shuklagandaki’. He informed that public notice was issued for the stakeholders, including political parties, civil society, government and non-government organizations, teachers, intellectuals and professionals to provide their constructive suggestions to be included in the budget within June 14.
Bandipur Rural Municipality is planning to bring budget, policy and programme to align the needs of the people as well as the long-term thoughts, goal and objectives of the 20-year integrated development master plan.
Similarly, Myagde rural municipality has set a goal to formulate a budget, policy and programme based on the needs and demands of the people.
The local levels are making necessary preparations to bring the budget, policy and programmes inconsistent with the constitutionally-guaranteed authority, Local Government Operation Act, 2074, Local Level Annual Budget and Planning Guideline, 2074 BS, 15th five-year plan and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
