Three members of the same family from Tatopani Rural Municipality-7 in Jumla district died after being swept away by a flooded stream.

Those killed after being swept away by the flooded stream were Sandesh Rawat (10), Jaisara Rawat (35) and Birkhe Rawat (60) from Tamti village, according to Jumla District Police Office.

District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dan Bahadur Thapa, informed that they were swept away by the flooded Dune stream while crossing it on Thursday evening. They were returning home after collecting medicinal herbs.

The information about the incident was received very late since there is no proper telecommunication available in the area. Tamti meadow from where the medicinal herbs are collected is at the distance of 40 kilometres from Jumla district headquarters.

Now, the police have returned after investigating the incident in the presence of relatives and local representatives.

Two weeks back, a disabled woman from Patarasi Rural Municipality was swept away by the Chhumchaur stream at Chhumchaur in the hilly district.
