UML leader Khanal's kidney transplant successful

Senior CPN (UML) leader Jhalanath Khanal had a successful kidney transplant at the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, India today.

According to his personal secretary Krishna Bhattarai, a team led by Dr Sandeep Gulariya, a surgeon at the hospital, performed the transplant. He is now under the care of nephrologist Dr Akhil Mishra.

The former Prime Minister was taken to New Delhi on June 16 for further treatment after being diagnosed with fever, infection in urine and blood, and low hemoglobin levels.
