KATHMANDU: The World Soil Day is being observed by organizing various programmes today.
The Day is being marked under the theme 'Caring of soils: measures, monitor and manage', according to the National Soil Science Research Centre (NSSRC).
The 68th UNGA at the recommendation of Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations decided to celebrate December 5 as the World Soil Day from 2013.
Nepal has officially started observing this day from 2014. Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC), the Department of Agriculture, National Soil Science Research Centre, Nepal Soil Society and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center are jointly observing the day.
