Water has started flowing again in Marshyangdi River after it was blocked due to the debris collected in the river because of the floods and landslides.

The river which flows through Manang district had been blocked due to the boulders, mud and logs of wood that had piled up in the river as a result of the landslides in Chame, Muredanda and Hunde.

Chief District Officer of Manang, Bishnu Lamichhane, informed that water had gradually started flowing in the Marshyangdi River. Due to the water that accumulated in the river in the area, there was a danger of the bridge connecting Chame Bazaar getting damaged, he said.

The debris in the river was cleared by a joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force.

Though the danger has subsided for the moment the locals have been alerted by the district administration to stay alert. This year there have been major damage and destruction in Manang district with the onset of the monsoon.
