The Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSP) is heading for a formal split. The split will now take place according to legal parameters. The Election Commission had today called both the factions of the party to hold discussions regarding the issue of validity of either of the faction.

Upendra Yadav, Mahendra Raya, Rajendra Shrestha, Prakash Adhikari and Mirigendra Singh were present at the commission from the petitioner’s side while Mahantha Thakur, Rajendra Mahato, Sharad Singh Bhandari, Anil Jha, Laxman Lal Karna, Keshav Jha and Surendra Jha were present from the other faction.

An agreement could not be reached during the talks between the two factions and both sides mentioned that they could no longer work with each other. Leaders who were present in the meeting stated that since both the factions had started moving in different directions there was no point in discussing about forging unity within the party.

Meanwhile, Thakur mentioned that if Upendra Yadav corrected himself and approached the party then the unity of the party could still be saved.
