Even though the party is on the verge of breaking up due to the internal differences within the party, Mahanta Thakur and Rajendra Mahato of the Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSP) are busy making preparations to join the government.
Thakur, who is the chairperson of the JSP, claims to have the support of 20 lawmakers of the party and will be holding discussions with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to join the government. Apparently, Thakur and Mahato are in Baluwatar at the moment to hold talks with PM Oli.
The Oli-led government has decided to give eight ministerial posts to JSP along with two posts of state ministers.
Besides discussions on joining the government JSP will also be holding talks on other issues raised by the party. The Thakur-led faction has decided to join the government citing that the ordinance on the Citizenship Act had been issued and cases lodged against leaders during the Madhesh movement had been withdrawn. JSP also mentioned that it will support the government because the CPN UML had addressed many other issues raised by the party.
