Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chairperson of CPN UML, has called for a meeting of the party’s Standing Committee today. The meeting was initially scheduled to be held at 12 pm in the prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar but will be held at 4 pm.
The meeting is expected to hold discussions on the steps taken by the opposition parties against the government’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives and hold the mid-term elections. It will also focus on the internal disputes that have surfaced within the party.
The Standing Committee meeting held on May 22 had sought clarification from 11 party leaders including senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal. The other leaders who have been asked to furnish their clarifications are Jhalanath Khanal, Bhim Rawal, Mukunda Neupane, Ramkumari Jhankri, Kalyani Khadka, Sarala Yadav, Pushpa Karn, Laxmi Chaudhary, Kalila Khatun, and Nira Jairu. The leaders were asked to do so by this morning.
Since the deadline to submit the clarifications is over the Standing Committee meeting is expected to hold talks on this issue too.
