The top leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Centre) and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSP-N) on Friday held discussions on possible power equation.
During a meeting organised at the residence of NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Deuba is learnt to have briefed the leaders about the decisions taken by the central committee of the NC some days ago.
The meeting of the NC’s central committee convened on April 2 had decided to seek resignation from the Prime Minister and make effort to form the NC-led government thereafter.
The meeting had concluded that the PM was adamant to navigate by stepping down from his position since the restoration of the House of Representatives.
After the meeting, NC Spokesperson Bishow Prakash Sharma shared that CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had acknowledged the proposal presented by Deuba in a positive tone. Dahal, as Sharma put it, had pledged his party’s support to the NC for its decisions.
JSP leaders, however, said that they would further discuss about Deuba’s proposal in their party meeting.
The meeting was attended by NC’s Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, leaders Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Bimalendra Nidhi and Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, Dr Shashank Koirala, among others,
Likewise, representing the CPN (Maoist Centre) in the meeting were chairperson Prachanda, leaders Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Dev Bahadur Gurung and spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha.
On behalf of JSP, Chairmen Mahantha Thakur and Upendra Yadav, Federal Council Chair Dr Baburam Bhattarai, senior leaders Rajendra Mahato and Ashok Rai, among others took part in the meeting, according to NC Spokesperson Sharma.
