Nepal's record-setting marathon runner Baikuntha Manandhar has been honored in Kathmandu. He is the one who has participated in the Olympics the most times among the Nepalese athletes. Similarly, no one in South Asia has been able to break the record set by him in the year 1987 in the marathon race in the South Asian Games.
In the 3rd South Asian Games held in Kolkata, India, he finished the 42.195 km marathon race in 2 hours 15 minutes 03 seconds and won the gold medal.
On this occasion, Athletics Pariwar Nepal honored Baikuntha Manandhar with a certificate of appreciation with a cash prize of 111,111 rupees.
In honor of the Baikuntha Manandhar, various distance running competitions were also organized by Athletics Parivar Nepal.
