Internationally acclaimed Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has welcomed the newly appointed head cricket coach of Nepal, Pubudu Dashaynke in his Facebook page, the coach he came to the limelight under. Although Sandeep was born in Nepal, he grew up in India as his dad worked in railways there and learned cricket while studying in an Indian school.
Pubudu, who was born in Sri Lanka and played cricket for famous Sri Lankan teams is now a citizen of Canada. Ever since the Sri-Lankan born Canadian coach gave Sandeep his first start, he never looked back.
Pubudu, who made significant contributions to take Nepali cricket taking them to the highest international stage. In a unanimous decision by the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) Pudbudu has been re-appointed as the head coach of the national team. Sixty coaches including international coaches, had applied for the Nepal Men’s Cricket top job out of which 7 were selected for the final stages of interview.
The coach signed a deal extending for 2 years with an annual compensation of $12000. He is scheduled to arrive in Nepal on December 20 and start closed training soon.
Pubudu had previously worked in Nepal from 2011 to 2015. Succeeding the Sri Lankan coach Roy Dias, who had worked as the cricket coach of Nepal for 9 years.
Nepal Cricket Association President Chatur Bahadur Chand has expressed confidence that Nepal's cricket will reach new heights during Pubudu's two-year tenure.
Head coach Pubudu stressed that he was not only here for the overall development of the senior team but the development of junior and grassroot cricket as well.
