KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli assured the Kirtipur Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur, Kathmandu will get parapet built and floodlight installed within stipulated deadline.
Taking to social media here on Friday, PM Oli said that a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Friday took the decision to this effect. The works will be taken forward in 'three shifts' to make the stadium well-equipped and for timely completion, the PM reaffirmed.
"Cricket is lifeblood of youths of our society. We had decided to build a parapet and install floodlight in the Kirtipur Cricket Stadium on the first meeting of the cabinet since the formation of the incumbent government," the Head of the Government mentioned.
He added that a tender was called on Friday itself for the parapet and floodlight related works.
PM Oli highlighted the discussions with the national cricket team's players including former captain Paras Khadka during the planning stage of the stadium construction.
According to PM Oli, the Cricket Association of Nepal's office-bearers have advised him to buy some time to build the stadium to world-class standards rather than rushing the construction process.
He admitted that the project has been delayed due to technical design issues and complications in acquisition of land.
Nevertheless, the PM reassured that the stadium will be state-of-art sport facility and world-class. Towards this, the PM has sought cooperation and caution from everyone for timely completion of the project.
