Nepal dominated the fifth South Asian level skateboard competition and skate festival. In the competition, senior men, senior women, and junior men competed for the same 3/3 gold, silver, and bronze in 3 events. Nepal dominated by winning 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
Sharad Rai was first, Basanta Rai was second and Dhiraj Periyar was third in the competition jointly organized by Nepal Skating and Skateboard Association and Skate Aid Nepal.
Samiksha Rai won gold, Khushi B.K won silver and Swati Shrestha won bronze in senior women. The first place in both men and women received 1000, second place 500, and third place 250 US dollars cash prize.
Abhishek Periyar stood first, India's Mohammad Win Javed stood second and Karma Lama Gurung stood third in the junior men's competition held at Tilottama Skate Park in Rupandehi. The top three winners received cash prizes of US$200, US$150, and US$100 respectively.
Games of skateboarding and best run competitions were held for men and women. Based on the competition performance of both, the top three players were decided.
The winners were awarded by the president of the organizing association Achyut Khanal, vice president and competition coordinator Jagrit Pahadi, general secretary Satya Thapa, and others. At the closing ceremony, Gajendra Bardeva was awarded the best skater of the year award. He was given a cash prize of 200 US dollars along with the award.
President Khanal informed that 300 athletes from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Pakistan, and Maldives participated in the tournament.
During the closing ceremony, President Khanal said that the performance of Nepalese athletes in the South Asian countries is very good and expressed his belief that if skateboarding is included in the South Asian Games (SAG), Nepal will win many medals.
