KATHMANDU: In the opening match of the Hong Kong Sixes tournament held in Mong Kok, Hong Kong, Nepal triumphed over England by six wickets.
Chasing a target of 98 runs, Nepal successfully reached this goal in just 4.2 overs without losing any wickets. Captain Sandeep Jora led the charge with an impressive 50 runs, hitting six sixes and four fours off just 12 balls.
Lokesh Bam contributed with 20 runs, including two sixes and a four from 11 balls, while Rashid Khan added 21 runs off five balls with two sixes and two fours.
England, batting first after losing the toss, scored 97 runs in 5.5 overs, losing six wickets in the process. England’s captain Ravi Bopara top-scored with 49 runs, which included one four and seven sixes off 12 balls. Smith Patel supported with 39 runs, featuring three fours and three sixes from 17 balls.
On the bowling side for Nepal, Pratish GC took two wickets, while Narayan Joshi, Lokesh Bam, and Bibek Yadav each claimed one wicket.
Nepal is placed in Group B alongside England and Australia, and they are set to face Australia on Saturday. The Hong Kong Cricket Sixes is an international six-a-side cricket tournament, and this marks Nepal's inaugural participation in the event.
