Wednesday's La Liga games vital at both ends of the table

The race for the La Liga title and also to avoid relegation continues with four games on Wednesday all of which could have an influence at both ends of the table.

Atletico Madrid plays at home to fifth place Real Sociedad in what is arguably Atletico's toughest game between now and the end of the season. Although Atletico could be knocked off the top if Barcelona wins away to Levante on Tuesday night, they know that after their draw at the Camp Nou on Saturday, three wins from their last three games will make them Champions.

The problem with that is Atletico hasn't won three consecutive matches since January and any slip-ups would open the door for Real Madrid or Barcelona, meanwhile, Real Sociedad is involved in the battle to qualify for Europe next season. Atletico will need to maintain the organization they showed in the Camp Nou to stop players such as Alexander Isak, Mikel Merino, and Mikel Oyarzabal.

Jose Gimenez could be back in defense for Atletico, who will look to Yannick Carrasco and Marcos Llorente to spearhead their attack as they look to take another step closer to the title.

Sevilla's title hopes all but vanished when they drew 2-2 away to Real Madrid on Sunday night, with Eden Hazard's late goal robbing them of two points that would have kept them in contention.

Sevilla fire off their last shots at home to Valencia, who with Voro once again as stand-in coach, beat Valladolid 3-0 at the weekend.

Getafe's home defeat to Eibar on Sunday left them just four points from the relegation zone and that position will have worsened after Elche play Alaves on Tuesday night. Pepe Bordalas' side needs something from their visit to Celta Vigo, but with Celta still chasing a top-seven finish after their weekend victory away to Villarreal, they will have to improve.

Four defeats in their last five games have left Huesca in the relegation zone and they have to win their home match against Athletic Club Bilbao. Athletic travel with a host of key players, such as Iker Muniain, Yuri and Dani Garcia, and Anda Capa out through injury and COVID-19, but is unbeaten in nine league games, even though seven of those have been draws.
