'Collaboration must to end human-wildlife conflict'

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka has underlined robust collaboration in place between community and three-tiers of government to tackle human-wildlife conflict.

Number of wild animals has increased in the park of Bardiya, causing nuisance in the vicinity, DPM Khadka said, adding that the wild animals stalk nearby settlements for foods.

He said it while inaugurating the Bansgadhi Industrial Trade Fair here Sunday. Khadka however informed that federal government's attention was drawn seriously toward the loss of human and property caused by wildlife.

Information to this was shared by DPM Khdka's secretariat.

"Bardiya district is a granary in Lumbini Province. So, the national pride projects including that of irrigation in this district must be completed in time so that agriculture would thrive further. He also assured government assistance for.

He however admitted that problems relating to availability of chemical fertilizers, irrigation, up-skilling and re-skilling of farmers, adoption of modern technology had afflicted agriculture sector.

"I'm well aware about the problems and potentials of this area. Fair trade is disturbed with various sorts of crimes perpetrated especially due to open border. So, all-sides cooperation is must to cope with it," he said, informing that government is effortful to resolve economic problems.

The DPM also urged the businesspersons not to be disappointed. He expressed confidence that such fair would help augment publicity of religious and tourist spots in this area. It has also a role to promote homestay, according to him.

Moreover, industrial and trade fair would inspire locals, farmers, businessperson and artists alike, the DPM viewed.
