Gasherbrum-I Summit Update

Imagine Nepal trekking and mountaineering company announce that its Gasherbrum-I Expedition team successfully summited worlds 11th highest 8000m peak. The team comprises three clients and three Sherpa, who reached the peak early morning and are returning to the base camp.

Gasherbrum-I, also known as the Hidden Peak, is located between the Shigar District in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan and Tashkurgan in Xinjiang, China. The peak is 8080 metres above sea level, making it one of the highest and challenging mountains to climb.

The Record made by the team after climbing G-I:

The Gasherbrum-I climb added a new chapter to the impressive climbing records of the summiteers.

• Mr Naoki has now successfully climbed 12 out of the 14 8000m peaks, with only Shishapangma and Cho Oyu remaining. These will be climbed in September 2023.

•Mr Gao can now boast eight 8000m peaks under his belt – Everest in 2018 and 2021, K2 in 2022, Lhotse in 2019, Makalu in 2019, Nanga Parbat in 2023, Annapurna in 2021 and now, Gasherbrum-I in 2023.

•Tamting Sherpa climbed the true summit of 13 8000m peak with the Gasherbrum-I climb and only has one remaining — Shishapangma. He previously climbed the fore summit of Shishapangma and will return to climb the main peak to complete his 14 peaks to the main summit.

•Pasang Namke also achieved his 13th 8000m peak by climbing Gasherbrum-I this morning. Next week, he will climb Broad Peak, his 14th peak to the main summit. Along with the 14 8000 metres peaks, he has also climbed Yalung Khang (8505m) and Lhotse Shar (8400m), making it a total of 16 different 8000ers he has conquered.
