The Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) — the umbrella organisation of hotel entrepreneurs — has hailed the budget unveiled by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) for the fiscal year 2021/22.
Issuing a statement today, HAN extended its gratefulness to the KMC for exempting huge property tax in order to revitalise the hardest-hit hotel industries. The HAN owed its thanks to the KMC office-bearers, including the mayor for endorsing the policy of offering the opportunity to pandemic-affected hotel industries through the municipal assembly.
The HAN said that the waiver of tax has rendered relief to the hotel entrepreneurs in the critical context of the second wave of COVID-19. KMC had offered 85 per cent tax exemption, including 75 per cent last year and 10 per cent tax this year for those paying tax timely taking into consideration the recommendations of HAN.
The HAN has also urged other local levels to extend such support for the revitalization of toruism industry. ---
