Jagan Timilsina: Nepal can bring more tourist with outdoor activities

Jagan Timilsina has been able to help understand nature up closely for the people with different types of disabilities. Efforts have been made to teach useful life skills to them. In collaboration with Spinal Cord Injury Nepal Network, Freedom Social Foundation gave various training sessions in Kakani, Nuwakot from September 16 to 19. The participants benefited from training related to camping, cooking, rock climbing, zip lining and first aid.


In the past, Timilsina, the trainer of the organization who taught the students of public schools to practice life skills, has been teaching the same art to the students of America every year.

Timilsina, born in Pokhara, started the process of getting close to nature through trekking. He started as a porter and became a trekking guide. Having taken advanced training in mountaineering, he has successfully climbed 25 different mountains including Mount Everest. Currently he is working as an outdoor instructor. He has been working as a field instructor after completing the Alaska Mountaineering Instructor course from America.


He is a versatile talent in the adventure field and has also received training as a helicopter rescue marshal. He is experienced in river rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, and marathon running as well as cycling. He was Solo pilot with 35 flights with 15 hours flight time in Pokhara.


Timilsina, who is currently teaching outdoor activities in different states of America, told NepalNews that his goal is to open a school related to outdoor education in Nepal.

As there is natural diversity in Nepal, he hopes that the new generation can get to know nature closely through outdoor activities. He says that it can contribute to bringing more tourists to Nepal through this.
