Manang air chopper crash: pilot referred to India

Prakash Sedhai, the helicopter pilot who was severely injured in a Manang Air chopper crash on Saturday, is to be airlifted to India for medical treatment.

Sedhai, who is currently receiving treatment at Hams Hospital in Kathmandu, has been referred to the National Burns Centre in Mumbai, as confirmed by hospital sources.

The chopper, operated by Manang Air, crashed en route from Lukla to Lobuche in Solukhumbu on Saturday morning. Dr. Sabin Koirala reported that the pilot sustained burns to some 45-50 percent of his face and legs and is also experiencing complications in his lungs, spine, and kidneys.

The accident occurred at 7:24 am, just ten minutes after its take-off. ---
