More than 150 climbers scale Mt Everest today

The spring season of mountain expeditions to Mt Everest has sprung to life again. After the weather which had been inclement since the past few days cleared out more than 150 climbers had begun their ascent for the top of the Everest on Saturday evening, informed Liaison Officer of Department of Tourism, Gyanendra Shrestha from the Base Camp.

He mentioned that the mountaineers successfully scaled Mt Everest this morning. Speaking from the Base Camp, Shrestha informed that they had received news that more than 150 climbers had already reached the peak and some mountaineers were still in the process of getting to the top.

Shrestha mentioned that if the weather remains good then most of the expeditions to Mt Everest will be conducted on May 28 and 29. World record holder, Kami Rita Sherpa is in the Base Camp at the moment to try to attempt to scale Mt Everest for the 26th time, he added. He further said that the Base Camp at present is crowded with mountaineers waiting to scale Everest.

The expeditions to Mt Everest had been affected due to the inclement weather for the last one week. Tropical Cyclone Tauktae in the Arabian Sea had affected the mountain expeditions in Nepal too.
