The Peace Torch, initiated by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) from Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, to seek international attention on the adverse effects of global warming on Nepal's mountains and to promote world peace, has arrived in Kathmandu and taken a round through Swayambhunath and Boudha.
The General Secretary of the NMA, Mr. Mohan Lamsal, Board member Mr. Diwas Pokhrel, Ms. Nima Doma Sherpa, Pitamber Gurung, Singi Lama, and former secretariat member Shiva Bahadur Sapkota, along with the renowned climber Kaji Sherpa, escorted the Peace Torch to Swayambhunath and Boudha. Accompanying the Peace Torch were the Chief Executive Officer, Kul Prasad Rai, and other NMA staff.
The Peace Torch will be taken to Kala Patthar, a base camp of Mount Everest, where the arrival of the Peace Torch will be accompanied by the hoisting of Nepal's national flag by the Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) Sudan Kirati.
