Nepal Railway Company (NRC) has said all necessary preparations have been put in place for the operation of the Janakpur-Jayanagar Railway Service.
It has mentioned that the Nepal-India railway service can be operated immediately once the Nepali and Indian governments reach an understanding to do so as all preparations including infrastructure and human resources have been readied for that purpose.
According to Guru Bhattarai, General Manager of the company, all preparations have been finalised and the operation of the rail service has been postponed for a few days due to the change of government. He added the Indian government will hand over the project to Nepal in a couple of days. The only thing left is for the exchange of documents between the two respective authorities.
Bhattarai shared the inauguration will take place after the handover of the infrastructure of the railway. He said the Indian government will transfer all structures constructed for the operation of the railway service to the Nepali government.
Equipment and facilities like the railway track, station, buildings, residential building and computers that have been installed through the economic and technical assistance of the Government of India will be formally handed over to Nepal Railway Company soon.
He added that more documents needed to be exchanged between the two countries for the operation of the railway service. The paper related to the understanding reached with the Indian government company also remains to be exchanged.
The company has also trained the required human resources to operate the railway. Three Indian technicians had imparted the training. Some Indian technicians will also be hired within a few days, Bhattarai mentioned.
