'Kuri Ski Adventure Center' is being constructed at Kalinchowk, Kuri in Dolakha. As the Nepal Mountain Training Institute under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has prepared a master plan, it is preparing to build the center by preparing DPR, said Uttam Bhattarai, director of the academy.
According to him, a master plan has been prepared by the government of Nepal at a cost of around five lakh rupees. According to the master plan, preparations have been made to include DPR in next year's budget. This will be the first model ski adventure center in Nepal. As per the goal of developing skiing, it has also been decided that the skiing facility will be constructed in the 6,470-meter high mountain of Solukhumbu.
According to Devraj Khadka, an engineer, who was given the responsibility of preparing the master plan, it will cost around Rs. 280 million including VAT. The area of the center is 113,000 square meters.
Alternatives have also been explored to make this place, which only snows for about two months, viable for 12 months with other technology and activities. Khadka said that a water tank with a capacity of 100,000 liters would be constructed to alleviate the water shortage.
A spiritual meditation center will also be built there targeting religious tourists. The technology of artificial snow production will also be started. There will also be ice skating. The master plan states that structures including artificial wall climbing, quad-y (seven meters long and 5.5 meters wide), and seven hundred meters Tibar route will be constructed.
There will be easy ski routes for learners and complex ski routes for experts. The payback period will be eight years. NPV value is 77.3 million. The master plan has been prepared on the basis of data obtained from Kuri Cable Car and Kalinchowk Municipality. Hotels and restaurants are expected to accommodate one thousand tourists daily.
Proximity to the district headquarters Charikot and Kathmandu along with the presence of Kalinchok Bhagwati temple here are its strengths.
