Tara Air is scheduled to operate regular flights in the Pokhara-Jomsom route from coming October 9.
Tara Air, the sister organisation of Yeti Airlines, has decided to operate flights in the route as Muktinath temple, a popular place of pilgrimage, has now been opened for devotees and pilgrims. The temple had been closed since the government imposed a nationwide lockdown to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
The flights in the Pokhara-Jomsom route target to provide services to people making pilgrimages to the temple, according to Spokesperson and security chief for Yeti Airlines, Sudarshan Bartaula. The twin otter aircraft with the capacity of 19 seats will be operated in this route, he said, adding that the planes will park at Pokhara Airport.
Previously, Tara Air had been operating at least five flights in the Pokhara-Jomsom route on daily basis. All the flights have to be made within the noon since the high winds get up in the afternoon.
Tara Air has been operating regular flights to Pokhara, Nepalgunj and Kathmandu. The airline company has four twin-otter aircraft making flights to remote hilly districts. Currently, Tara Air has been operating regular and chartered flights to Lukla, Phaplu, Simikot, Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Bajura among other remote places in the country.
