Bisket jatra

Madhyapur Thimi municipality has announced four days of public holiday starting from today on the occasion of New Year.

The 'Seventh Bhaktapur Industrial, Cultural, Tourism and Trade Fair' started on Thursday.

The 7th Bhaktapur Industrial, Cultural, Tourism and Trade Festival is going to be held to mark New Year 2080 and Bisket Jatra.

Bisket Jatra, a famous cultural festival of Tokha, the northern outskirt of the Kathmandu Valley, is underway.

Altogether 19 persons were injured in the Bisket jatra, a chariot pulling festival that began in Bhaktapur on Saturday.

Bisket jatra, also known as Biska and Bi Syaku is celebrated reminiscing the ancient tale, 'the death of a python'.
