KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has refused to release medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai. The court heard the writ petition for habeas corpus on Wednesday and ordered to present before the court.
The single bench of Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel issued the order while hearing a writ petition for habeas corpus filed by Prasai's son Nirajan.
Earlier, in a similar habeas corpus petition filed earlier, the Supreme Court had dismissed the petition, holding that Prasai was being detained legally.
Prasai, who is in police custody, is being investigated on charges of criminal breach of trust.
Prasai's son Niranjan filed a writ petition on Tuesday, claiming that the police had arrested him with the intention of causing trouble and extended his time limit. The writ petition mentioned that Prasai was suffering from a serious disease like cancer.
