Newly-appointed Inspector General of Nepal Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar has said that internal cleansing was his main priority during his tenure as the IGP.

Khanal will compete with Congress candidate Bhimsendas Pradhan.

The government appointed Singh as IGP on May 1, 2022.

Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Vishwaraj Pokharel has gone to the Supreme Court against the appointment of the new Inspector General of Police.

The respective insignia has been conferred on newly-promoted Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police Sahakul Thapa.
