Here are ten Businesses, all with diverse visions: local, sustainability, fashion, or delights:

1) Affordable Thriftstore Nepal (@affordablethriftstorenepal)

Thrift culture is an essential and thriving business that took over the western world and slowly emerged in Asian countries. With the demand for sustainability growing day by day, Affordable Thrift Store Nepal offers thousands of clothing pieces on their Instagram page and shop that runs in Maitighar.

The founder, Pratha Basnet, says, “ I began this business as a safe space for our sellers and buyers. Even if we can’t control the clothing market or the waste disposal system, we can create and join a viable community that can pass down the clothing product and obtain proper use out of them”

It is high time the world becomes eco-friendly keeping in mind the drastic global warming and pollution rates. Ecosathi Nepal offers a diverse range of eco-friendly products created for consumers in Nepal. They offer alternatives to plastic and wastage through products like wooden utensils, toothbrushes, combs, and metal straws, menstrual cups, tote bags.

The owner Manu Karki, who is also a dentist, says, “ We want to help the population become eco-conscious and introduce them to the eco-concept by providing eco-art supplies. We frequently advocate and make people aware of climate change and the environment.”

7) Maya Handicrafts Jewelry (@Mayahandicraftsjewelry)

Yasmin Brouwer is originally from the Netherlands and settled in Kathmandu. She serves as Creative Director at Maya Handicrafts Jewelry and is the zeal of the brand. Yasmin has been making a mark in the silver jewelry business alongside her husband Sameer. She got her aspiration after coming across these unique pieces of traditional jewelry showcased at Sameer’s shop. Later, Yasmin created modern designs of jewelry, synchronizing two worlds which are reflected in the jewelry of Maya Handicrafts.

The owner Bhintuna Jya-Poo says, “Growing up in the late 90s and early 2000s with an inordinate amount of power cuts aka load shedding and a limited range of craft supplies, it wasn’t very difficult to stumble into and become an expert at what is now a commonly established culture of doing-it-yourself. It all started with endless hours spent stitching together scrap papers into decent note-copies. It somehow fuelled energy into the early days of designing prototypes and prototyping products for what would become Bhav Products towards the end of 2014.”
