Forex: US dollar stable, other currencies rise

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank has published the foreign exchange rates for Tuesday, showing that the US dollar remains steady while several other international currencies have appreciated in value.

The US dollar is currently being bought at NPR 137.37 and sold at NPR 137.97, maintaining the same rate for the third consecutive day. On Magh 25, however, the dollar reached a record high in the Nepali market, with a buying rate of NPR 139.83 and a selling rate of NPR 140.43.

The euro has strengthened slightly, with today’s rates at NPR 156.46 for buying and NPR 157.14 for selling—an increase from Monday’s rates of NPR 156.06 and NPR 156.74.

The British pound has also gained ground, now trading at a buying rate of NPR 181.27 and a selling rate of NPR 182.07, up from NPR 179.70 and NPR 180.49 the day before.

The Australian dollar has edged up as well, with the buying rate at NPR 86.87 and the selling rate at NPR 87.25. On Monday, it stood at NPR 86.36 for buying and NPR 86.74 for selling.

A slight rise was also observed in the Kuwaiti dinar, which is being exchanged at NPR 447.93 for buying and NPR 449.89 for selling, marginally higher than Monday’s NPR 447.91 and NPR 449.87.

The Bahraini dinar has similarly appreciated, with today’s buying rate at NPR 364.43 and the selling rate at NPR 366.02, compared to Monday’s NPR 364.38 and NPR 365.97.
